It was December 2008 and my weight was at 267 pounds, I
realized my weight was getting out of control and was worried that if I don’t
do something, I’d keep gaining weight. Like
many other woman, I had gained extra weight when I became pregnant at the age of
29 and can remember being 250 pounds at my heaviest during my pregnancy, well my
baby is now 10 years old and I am heavier now than when I was pregnant with her.
I can no longer use having a baby as an excuse, so I became determined to
gain control of my weight.
Finding what works
January 2009, I met trainer
Jackie Allen at Mind B4 Body Fitness & Spa and discussed what my goals are,
she scheduled weekly workout sessions with me and she made it accommodating to
my schedule, as a single mom and working full time, meeting with me at the gym
at 5 am. The first couple of weeks I
started to notice change and this kept me motivated and also knowing that Jackie
would be there at 5 am kept me from canceling.
I also started eating healthier foods like fish, grilled salmon, chicken
and fresh veggies. Jackie and Reggie
Allen also discussed the importance of adding protein to my diet so that I do
not lose muscle which is very important. I
love there vanilla protein shakes and it just works for me.
Ultimate compliment
My scale now reads 210
pounds and I feel great. My friends
and co-workers are now coming to me telling me how proud they are of me and how
good I look, and some have now become motivated to lose weight and would like to
know what am I doing, I tell them that I know it sounds text book, but it’s
the truth, I’m just working out and eating healthier.
I have now become hooked on working out and know that I will continue
until I reach my goal weight. I am
now looking forward to being fabulous and fit at forty and so can you!
